Solidarity Actions & Resources - July

As part of our ongoing pledge to use our platform to share anti-racism information and resources, we’re here with another round of organizations to donate to, educational resources and Instagram accounts to follow. This time, we’d like to focus our attention on our own backyard, Portland, OR.

PDX Stripper Strike – Not unlike many other industries, the adult entertainment world is steeped in racism and sexism. Haymarket Pole Collective is calling on Portland strip clubs to create an equitable environment for Black dancers by providing sensitivity training and equal shift opportunities.

Black Resilience Fund – A Portland-based emergency fund dedicated to providing immediate financial relief to Black Portlanders. They are 100% volunteer-led.

Equitable Giving Circle – An Oregon-based organization led by Black women that is committed to creating real, long-lasting economic change by empowering BIPOC communities in Portland. They’re currently running a CSA program that purchases shares from Portland’s BIPOC farming community and gifts those shares to BIPOC families experiencing food insecurity.

Portland has a deeply problematic and at many times—outright racist history. Learning about and reckoning with this history is the only way to begin to tackle white supremacy within our own community.
